Flashy (“Flashy: Flip” on the App Store) is built by an independent developer, Omar Abdullah, in Saudi Arabia. This policy explains what data the app and this website collect, why, and how you stay in control of it.
1. Data we collect
Account information
If you create an account, we receive your name and email address, plus a unique user ID. You can sign in with email and password, with Apple, or with Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose “Hide My Email”, we only receive Apple's private relay address. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
Content you create
Your decks, flashcards, folders, study sessions, review schedules, daily goal and streak are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and linked to your account, so they stay in sync and are not lost if you change devices.
Shared decks
When you share a deck, a copy of that deck (its title and cards) is stored so that anyone who has the link can preview and save it. Only share decks you're comfortable making available to people with the link.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app registers a push token with Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service. Review reminders are scheduled on your device. If “Announcements” is on, your device subscribes to a general announcements topic; you can turn it off in Profile → Notifications.
Data that stays on your device
- Guest mode: if you use Flashy without an account, your decks are stored only on your device. When you later sign in, they are moved to your account and the local copy is removed.
- Preferences: language, appearance, reminder intervals and notification switches are stored locally on your device.
Messages you send us
If you contact us through the form on this website or by email, we receive your name, email address and message, and use them only to reply to you.
Technical data
Like any online service, the providers we rely on (listed below) may process basic technical information such as your IP address and device type to deliver the service and keep it secure.
2. What we don't do
- We don't show ads or use advertising SDKs.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We don't access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- We don't sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
3. How we use your data
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To store and sync your decks and study progress.
- To calculate your progress, streak and accuracy inside the app.
- To send the review reminders and announcements you've enabled.
- To answer your support messages.
4. Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Flashy. They process data on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments:

5. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active.
- Delete your account: open Profile → Delete account in the app. This deletes your account and your decks, flashcards, folders and study history.
- Reset progress: Profile → Data lets you erase your study history, progress and streak while keeping your decks.
- Shared decks: copies of decks you shared by link may remain available to people who have the link. Email us and we'll remove them.
- Guest data: deleting the app removes it from your device.
6. Your choices and rights
You can access and edit your profile and content in the app, turn notifications on or off at any time, and sign out or delete your account whenever you like. Depending on where you live (for example, under Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law or the EU's GDPR), you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
7. Security
Data is sent between the app and our providers over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access to your data is restricted to your account. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Children
Flashy is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
